We had the 2nd edition of our hands-on brick workshop at BIT Mesra .
The workshop was attended by architecture students of 1st, 2nd and 3rd year of the institute and all members of our Team Axis. The workshop is a part of our education wing Axis.edu, that aims to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practice. The exercise is to involve students in a direct hands-on experience with brick, learning different bonds, jaalis and arches. It turned out to be a very engaging experience as there were no additional labor help, and students did everything themselves from carrying bricks to mixing mortar to the final brickwork and the arch testing.
The success of the workshop is evident from the happy faces of the budding architects. We are thankful to the Department of Architecture, BIT Mesra for the opportunity and hope to repeat many more of such workshops every year.
A 2 day hands-on workshop was organized by Axis.edu, for students of BIT Mesra.
On brick masonry and arches. We are thankful to the Dept. of Architecture, BIT Mesra for this wonderful opportunity. We were overwhelmed by the response of the students. The workshop was attended by students of 1st & 2nd year and also members of our Team Axis. Participants worked on brick masonry, bonds, junctions, brick jaalis, corbelling and arches over two days. The idea behind Axis.edu is to bridge the gap between the academics and the professional, and bringing students close to practical aspects of construction. This workshop is hopefully a first in the series for many more such workshops to come.
